"Free Talks for Parents" & "Tuition Classes for 2008"

Talks for Parents, completely free of charge! Parents, join in to hear about important points to look out for when choosing a secondary school for your child.

Held weekly on these Saturday nights : 8 Nov (4.30-6pm), 15 Nov (7.30-9pm) and 22 Nov (7.30-9pm), when the Secondary Sch Choosing period ends, at The Integrated Schoolhouse.

A Free Talk for Parents on another topic, Making Sense of our Singaporean Education System, will start after 22 Nov 2008.

Students interested in enrolling can pick from the above subjects we offer for you. Subjects offered are for Pri. 3 children to students in junior college.

Q : What is The Integrated Schoolhouse all about?
The Integrated Schoolhouse is a tuition centre that incorporates life-skills acquisition with everyday learning. This means your child / yourself will be exposed to the ever-so-important life skills ( such as Goal-Setting, Time Management, Positive Thinking..et al) that will benefit them in our competitive society during their lessons.

Q : What Free Talks are going on for parents?
Currently, we have two talks on seperate topics completely free of charge.

The ongoing Free Talk for Parents is on "Choosing a Secondary School for My Child". They are held on Saturday Nights, from 7.30-9pm. The dates are : 8 Nov (only from 4.30-6pm), 15 Nov and 22 Nov.

It covers important questions like What is an autonomous school, independent school, and a school with niche programmes?, What is value-added/absolute ranking?, What are the various school awards (SAA, ODA, BPA, SDA, SEA) ?
that will enable you to be better informed to support your child's learning.

This is especially important in such a period of time when new schemes from MOE are being set up (such as the IP Program...etc.), and will dramatically change the eligibility of schools for your child.

After all, is the best necessarily the best for your child?

The later talks will be held after 22 Nov regarding topics not pertinent to PSLE students.

This talk covers questions like What is holistic education in today's context? What are the different pathways of education; the different streams in secondary education?, What is the IP through-train; Direct School Admisstion (DSA); IB?

Q : Where are we?
Our address is at Blk 211 Hougang St 21, #01-313 Singapore 530211.

We are situated in the vicinity of Kovan MRT. (If you are familiar with the place, it is in front of your car as you enter the carpark that has Heartland Mall in the Northeast position, and the Pottery/Plant shop which is to your right. Also, it is inbetween the SuperBowl and hawkercentre, if that gives you a better visual idea.)

Q : What are the subjects we offer?
Students from Primary 3 to Primary 6 will have all their subjects covered in The Integrated Schoolhouse. Students from Secondary Schools can take Math, Additional Math, Chemistry, Biology, Lower Sec Science, English, Chinese.

Q : Tell me more about The Integrated Schoolhouse!
Our walls are painted in soothing pastel (orange, green, blue) colours that may be mistaken by some for a quirky beauty spa; luckily, the technological gizmos scattered over our grounds quickly change that perception. While our glass door may allow peeps into a condensed reception area, what lies behind it is a huge space for learning. It even has a staircase which i personally like very much.
